OOO: Dinner, a Play, and a Dream?

William leads her out of the doorway and into a quiet room, his hotel room.

He smiles at her and points the way to the door.

"The restaurant is just below us and the play is down the street."

The room is lushly appointed in reds and yellows and blacks. He leads her out to a just as lush but more tasteful hallway and to the elevators.

Molly looks around with wide eyes. She wasn't sure what she had expected, but it wasn't this.

"Do you live here?"

She pats her pocket, where the handle of her wand it just barely peeking out. Best to be safe.

"For today. I got it so I would be close to the Playhouse, dancehall, and the restaurant. It isnt much and I enjoy the service here and they know when to leave a man alone, so I can stay without problems."

He nods. He enjoys his solitude.

"You bought a flat, just to live in for one day?"

Hotels are a bit of a foreign concept to Molly. There are simple rooms for rent over the pub where she works, but nothing as elaborate as all that.

"Well, a week or two, really. I wasnt sure when I would see you, and as I said, it is a nice place. And I am just renting it."

He shrugs and leads her to the elevator.

When it comes he steps in holds the door for her before pushing the lobby button The floor they are on reads p1.

Molly isn't sure why they are standing in this tiny little room, but she shrugs and stands beside him, facing the door they just walked through.

She gives a little shriek when the room begins to move and grabs his arms tightly in alarm.

He encirles her with one arm, pulling he close and holds her.

"It's okay. This is an elevator. It carries you up and down between floors of a building. You're safe. I wont let you be hurt."

Molly keeps a tight grip on him until the elevator comes to a stop. When the door slide open to reveal someplace else entirely, she quickly steps out with him.

"It's faster than the stairs, I suppose. Where are we now?"

She looks around at all of the cars, wary.

"The regular population knows about them and the center of London is one of the most magically potent places on the Earth. Made sense to simply use the power and wards already there."

He shrugged.

"Is it really?"

It makes sense of course. Even in her own world, London is a major hub for magical travellers.

"It seems odd that your world knows about magic, and doesn't panic about it."

She'd always been taught that it would be catastrohic to the wizarding world for Muggles to discover their existence.

"werll, I imagien it did aty first, and that some still do, but there are a lot of magical heroes and villains in the public eye and some workingf for the government as well, so they know they are defended."

he smiles.

"It works pretty well."

"And Muggles don't seek out the magic users to solve all of their problems for them?"

She's interested in how it works.

"I mean, the Muggles in the village where I live know about magic, because they have magical relatives, or something, so it's not really the same thing."

"Some do, but see, in my world, the magic users mostly keep their true identities secret, and thus the people dont know where to go."

The food arrives as he smiles at her.

"People cant track down what they cant describe."

"The magic users wear disguises?"

An intriguing idea. And a frightening one, for some reason. She has a momentary chill race up her spine, but she shakes her head slightly, and it is gone.

"So they could be anyone at all. Do people here know you for who you are, or is the person I'm talking to your secret identity?"

"Ahhh. Maybe you can be of assistance sometime... I have some unusual plants at my other home... If you were willing, I would be more than willing to compensate you."

"Is there something wrong with them?" she asks with concern and interest. "Of course, I'd be happy to take look at them some time."

She wonders how different a plant from an alternate version of Earth could be.

"I dont know much about plants really and they are from another planet..."

He smiles wryly.

"Really...I didn't know there was life on any other planets... at least nearby."

Then again, if he can travel to the future, maybe he can visit other planets, as well.

"I'd be happy to have a look at them, though I don't know if I'd be able to tell if they were healthy."

He smiles.

"Thank you. Maybe in a few days then..."

he lifts his glass and toasts her with it, before draining it and refillijng both of theirs.

"I mostly wander and travel. And dance."

"I don't do any of those things, much."

It's not that she doesn't want to, it's just that her life doesn't lend itself to those things often.

"I dance sometimes, but usually only at home, when I listen to the wireless."

He nods.

"It takes a lot of practice and time to memorize lines. And yes, you aren't suppose to like him, I think."

He grins.

"How do you like the play?"

"It's wonderful," she tells him enthusicastically. "It makes me wonder what sorts they have in my own world. There must be wizarding plays, don't you think?"

She looks down on all of the people below, moving about and taking a break from the show.

"There are some in the village to take trips to the city to go to something called the cinema...from what they say, it is almost like magic. It didn't sound as interesting as this, though!"

"I imagine they do. Most societies produce plays at some point."

He grins, watching her.

"The cinema is moving pictures, all in a row, that seem to be as if ytou are watching real events. Like a play, but almost magical."

She nods.

"There are a couple of televisions in the village, but they usually don't work properly. Too much magical interference. Someone told me it was like that, only much bigger. I never really saw a point in it."

She only saw part of an ad for catfood, and hand't been overly impressed. She could see cats demanding food at home, in real life.

He chuckles.

"Maybe we can see one sometime, if you like, so you can see it in person and judge for yourself."

He shrugs.

"Movies are fun, but I prefer the theatre and seeing real people, right before me, with the immediacy that brings."

"Maybe. I like this, so I might like the other, as well. Thank you for brining me."
