OOM: The State of Billy

withamagicwordBilly sits at the lakeside, thinking, watching the water as it ripples outward.
It is a lazy day and a nice one, here at Milliways, but in most seriousness, he isn't sure why he is here anymore. He has lost his taste for the place. His desire for it. He will probably leave again soon. He wonders, idly, if he will come back. So much bad has happened here, so much that has been painful enough to make him want to simply walk away. He has hurt others and been hurt by them, and even though he has learned to deal with and accept what has happened, it doesn't make it any easier to be around the place. Memories old and new echo around him.
He sighs and glances around, then lays back on the large rock he has been sitting on, thinking on Milliways and on his life.
He is Billy Batson, Captain Marvel, and the Wizard of the Rock. He is a teenager, a super-hero, and a sorcerer. He is all of them he is human, and sometimes, it doesn't work the best.
Once he was called the purest soul in his universe. Now that isn't as true anymore. He has changed, and what is more, he has accepted whop he is, and all that he is.
In his life that wasn't a life, he faced his demons, but he also faced himself. He faced the hates and fears and pains and rages that filled a small part of him. He faced the shadows that lived in his soul. He faced his own capacity for violence and what it meant, and how. He faced himself and reality and he came away stronger and knowing what he was.
He lays on the rock and grins, just a little, as he just enjoys the sun, and just rests.
Maybe this isn't his home, or his haven anymore, but it is still beautiful, and he still has friends here.
There is time enough to learn, a part of him thinks, and time enough to love, and time enough to make new memories. He may still not stay, but at least he knows this; he does not have to leave.
And that, Billy thinks, is no bad thing at all.
