Billy leads Steph into the Rock with an almost bouncy step, grinning as they arrive in the outer area. He pulls her in for a long hot kiss, then he steps back and whispers.

"Shazam."

And the lightning strikes and he is Captain Marvel again.

"Welcome back, Steph."

When he comes back, he is hurrying and he has her clothes and his and he comes up to her and sinks to his knees. He puts the clothes down and then, he does the the only thing he can, he leans forward sand kisses her.

Then he sits back, picking up his clothing, slowly putting it on, not looking at her.

She clenches her fists. Why is it so - hard, suddenly? Why can't she make anything work the way it's supposed to? It was all so easy ten minutes ago. Last week. Last month. And now she's screwing everything up again.

She pulls her jeans on, and her shirt, and stands, back turned to him, biting her lip almost hard enough to draw blood.

::I don't know what to do,:: she confesses miserably. ::Everything's wrong.::

He bites his lips.

::I cant tell you what to do, what to think. All I can do is be here for you. I love you and sometimes that is all you have when things go to hell. All I know, is that you make me happy, and there is nowhere I would rather be than by your side, in good times, or in bad ones...::

And he is still there on his knees, watching her back, tears on his face, as he just wishes he could help her not hurt so very much. Even if it meant losing her, if she could just be happy... He shudders at the lance of pain that hits him at that thought. Didnt he ever get to be happy? Ever? And a voice answered somewhere deep in his mind. Sometimes, there is only joy in what you can do for others.

She turns to him, and holds out her arms.

"I can't believe you love me sometimes. I'm such - Everything's a drama, with me... I just want it all to work. I hate it when things go so awkward."

He steps forward, hugging her gently.

"I am sorry if I scared you or moved too fast. And your feelings, your emotions are valid, Steph, and you are worth it to me... I love you."

He kisses her hair softly.

"Want to try to get some sleep?"

"Yeah. Sleep sounds good." She clings to him, arms tight around him.

He hugs her back and smiles softly.

But deepo in the most secure place, a seed of doubt is planted... he saw the look in her eyes, the almost outright fear of him in her face... he remembers her words the last few days and that small deep part of him wonders.

But for now, he just hugs her titht and turns her towards the bedrooms, walking with her. He can hope that love will be enough... he can hope.
