Time Passes...

withamagicwordTime runs differently in the Rock. Even pain is not master to time.
Billy sits a lot, staring off into nothing. Billy thinks a lot and spends even more time not thinking...
Time runs quickly by and the pain is still thick in him.
Confusion clouds his mind, so much so that he takes refuge in the wisdom of Solomon and duty often, to keep his mind working at all. He makes mistakes, and they are costly ones, and he manages to rally from those mistakes, but.... things are weird, diffuse, confused.
He isn't sure how to start to being normal again, until he realizes he isn't and why should he try?
Tears roll down his cheeks a lot., He doesn't try to stop them anymore. Sometimes, he doesn't even notice when he is crying.
He keeps moving, keeps trying. Billy Batson is fourteen and a half and carries the weight of the old magic on his back. He spends day and night studying and working to stabilize what is left of it, to hold it in place until those who will rise in this new age of magic can begin working with it and set their own parameters. He feels old all too often, and feels tired all the time.
Thinking about Stephanie and what happened? Happens all the time. He tries not to concentrate on it, but it is hard to put from his mind and it creeps back win when he least expects it.
He keeps working, keeps studying, and time rolls past, days, and finally weeks.
Three and a half weeks later...
